Software Dev Engineer II, ASBX

The Pipelines team, part of the Amazon Software Builder Experience (ASBX) organization, builds and operates the CI/CD platform used by thousands of Amazon builders every day to safely and swiftly release software. We orchestrate the building, testing, and deployment of software systems at massive scale, performing over five million deployments daily. This role provides a unique opportunity to directly improve the day-to-day life of Amazon builders.

AI is transforming how software is built and shipped, and we are at the forefront of this transformation, reimagining what CI/CD looks like when Generative AI can help developers create, configure, debug, and optimize their deployment workflows. We are seeking a Software Development Engineer to help us build the next iteration in CI/CD by continuing to develop and expand our smart orchestration layer, Dynamic Releases. As part of our team, you will own the services that power Amazon's releases and influence a system that helps thousands of engineers deploy their changes. Inside Pipelines, we seek to make the software release process smarter each day and to reduce more and more of the manual interventions builders at Amazon have to deal with.

A successful candidate will bring deep technical expertise in building developer-facing products, a passion for building projects incrementally and fast, as well as a demonstrated ability to operate in highly technical teams. You will design and deliver systems that operate at massive scale while shipping features that shape how the next generation of builders, both human and AI, interact with code.

- Identify and prioritize high-impact problems that impede AWS software development
- Decompose complex builder problems into simple, straightforward and scalable solutions.
- Collaborate with AWSBA, ASBX and AWS builder teams to build and operate the designed solutions.
- Deliver meaningful improvements weekly while working toward long-term transformation
- Re-imagine how developers build and operate the software that underpins the world's largest cloud
- Drive significant transformation across AWS engineering

A day in the life
You have deep expertise in the architecture and business use of AWS technologies. You are technically hands-on and close to the technology. You are passionate about developer experience and frustrated by inefficiencies that make building software unnecessarily difficult. You understand the challenges AWS developers face today and collaborate with team members to simplify the AWS developer experience. You have experience contributing to complex software development initiatives. You strive for simplicity and demonstrate significant creativity.

Basic Qualifications

- 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
- 2+ years of non-internship design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
- 1+ years of software development engineer or related occupational experience
- 1+ years of designing and developing large-scale, multi-tiered, multi-threaded, embedded or distributed software applications, tools, systems, and services using: C#, C++, Java, or Perl experience
- 1+ years of Object Oriented Design experience
- Bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field
- Experience programming with at least one software programming language

Preferred Qualifications

- Experience building services using AWS products
- Experience with software tooling and services supporting development lifecycle at scale

The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
