Head of Wealth Investment Planning, Business Process Optimization and Value Assurance, MD, C16

The Head of Wealth Investment Planning, Business Process Optimization and Value Assurance is a critical leadership role within the Wealth COO playing at the intersection of Strategy, Business and Technology to shape tech-enabled business and value-back strategic priorities intended to radically transform, simplify and streamline critical capabilities, end-to-end journeys and platforms.  This role reports to the Wealth COO, requires strong business acumen and effective collaboration across Wealth Business, Functions (e.g., Controls, Operations) and Technology partners as well as broader enterprise stakeholder group (e.g., Technology, COO, Finance).

Key Responsibilities

• Spearhead Investment Planning operating processes, including defining and operationalizing guidelines and cadences closely connected to the strategy and outcomes the business is looking to achieve. As part of this process, the leader will shape and lead prioritization across competing priorities of the integrated tech-enabled Book of Work informed by business value, risk reduction, strategic alignment.
• Define and hold the bar for initiatives scoping, prioritizing process automation, simplification and ensuring solutions scoped to support ultimate objectives, and business casing with an eye towards close linkage between work and value creation.
• Operationalize agile intake toll-gates, prioritization, and resource allocation to ensure the most optimal resource deployment (e.g., funding and resources)
• Run governance processes to ensure delivery against commitments and responsible investment discipline
• Execute, in close partnership with the Finance and Productivity function, value assurance disciplines and linkages to the Wealth P&L, where relevant – i.e., track ROI through structured governance forums, regular business, metric and spend reviews including identifying areas where interventions are required
• Oversee an integrated blueprint of critical capabilities and maturity levels and maintain a roadmap to propel Citi Wealth towards its strategic goals. As part of this responsibility, analyze the current landscape (e.g., journeys, platforms, technology), identify gaps and opportunities for investment to simplify and transform the business
• For priority areas, lead teams through process discovery and mapping exercises to document ‘as is’ processes and design optimized ‘to-be’ processes
• Maintain centralized repository of process documentation.
• Work closely with Technology partners to align the book of work with the target-state technology and data architecture
• Promote the adoption of Agile methodologies across the organization, driving an end-to-end value-oriented approach and adapting agile principles to process improvement.

 

Skills, Knowledge and Experience

• 15+ years' experience in Financial Services with 5+ years in Technology or Digital Strategy, leading transformations and developing/executing roadmaps for complex global businesses. Experience with business process mapping solutions a plus.
• Demonstrated experience operating at the intersection of Business and Technology, translating strategic priorities into actionable, well-governed investment and delivery plans.
• Understanding and experience with Lean Agile frameworks and complex Agile projects (Lean/Product Owner certifications preferred), including hands-on experience building tech-enabled products or capabilities.
• Deep understanding of Wealth products, business management, architecture, network, and regulatory responsibilities.
• Strong understanding of operations, execution points, and taxonomy design.
• Proven leadership, communication, and collaboration skills, with the ability to influence across all levels.
• Ability to manage through influence, build rapport with senior stakeholders, and drive execution in a matrixed environment.
• Risk-based thinking and analytical mindset.
• Experience working in a global, matrixed environment, and building and leading high-performing teams.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite; experience with Lean/Six Sigma a plus.
• Extensive experience in strategic thinking and problem-solving skills.
• Consulting experience with expertise in product/platform strategy and enterprise agile transformation strongly preferred.

 

Education

• Undergraduate degree in finance or related discipline with substantial technology experience required.
• Master's degree preferred.
