Overview
Mastercard is seeking a Senior Analyst, Financial Crimes Compliance to help protect the integrity of our network and support the continued execution and enhancement of our anti-money laundering and sanctions compliance program. In this role, you will help identify, assess, and mitigate financial crime risks across customer activity, products, services, geographies, and regional initiatives.
You will collaborate across business, legal, compliance, product, regional, and customer-facing teams to provide practical AML and sanctions guidance, support sound risk-based decision-making, and help advance Mastercard’s commitment to doing business responsibly. This position is ideal for a thoughtful risk taker and change maker who brings analytical rigor, strong judgment, collaboration, and the ability to translate complex data and risk issues into clear, actionable insights.
Role
• Support daily AML operational reviews of activity on the Mastercard network by coordinating follow-up actions, monitoring case progress, and ensuring alignment with global and regional AML standards.
• Assist in managing customer communications, tracking regulatory data requests, and providing logistical and administrative support to the broader team while contributing to regional initiatives.
• Track and monitor unusual activity cases, escalations, and follow-ups across the region, maintaining visibility and driving timely completion of outstanding items.
• Liaise with internal teams and stakeholders to gather input and support the smooth execution of Financial Crimes Compliance processes.
• Coordinate customer communications related to AML and sanctions documentation, clarifications, and other required follow-ups, ensuring timely and professional responses.
• Conduct AML transaction monitoring, Ad-hoc investigations, and research via deep data analytics across large datasets covering multiple regions and countries.
• Maintain and update internal trackers, dashboards, and documentation to support program oversight, reporting requirements, and audit readiness; contribute to ongoing data quality checks and documentation accuracy in support of monitoring activities and compliance reviews.
• Assist with the preparation of materials for internal governance processes, including risk working groups, case reviews, and management reporting cycles.
• Support the tracking and coordination of regulatory data requests, ensuring proper documentation, follow-up, and alignment with Mastercard policies.
• Update risk control platforms to reflect accurate case statuses, customer changes, and product updates.
• Coordinate global due diligence exercises and track ongoing remedial actions.
• Review system alerts driven by unusual activity, sanctions, politically exposed persons, and adverse media screening.
• Review internal and external inquiries to assess AML risks and identify Customers with concerning compliance controls.
• Conduct AdHoc investigations by querying data warehouse data, analyzing that data to identify patterns of potentially suspicious activity, formulating a hypothesis on the activity identified for further review and validation by stakeholders and Customers.
• Support key data initiatives across the AML and compliance function, including system tuning, trend analytics, data integrity checks, reporting, and tracking.
• Manage data requests from law enforcement and internal stakeholders.
• Provide input to the periodic AML Program Risk Assessment.
• Establish and maintain Financial Crimes Compliance program tracking and metrics to identify trends and action items for program preservation and enhancement.
• Support management reporting, presentations, and metrics processes.
