We are looking for a Data Scientist with a drive to achieve high impact, high quality results to join the Mojang Player Data and Insights team. In this role, you will be responsible for driving attribution analytics for the studio’s marketing initiatives. You’ll partner with marketing and engineering teams to ensure a robust pipeline from database to reporting, on the attribution of campaigns across a variety of channels such as paid ads, social media, and in-game messaging. You will develop and lead analysis that identify key drivers of monetization, engagement, and retention across channels.
Responsibilities
Build and maintain causal inference frameworks, i.e. Mix Media Modeling, muti-touch attribution and regression analysis, to measure marketing effectiveness across channels and initiatives
Automate the calculation of ROI and optimization opportunities
Build automated pipelines to productionize the output of causal inference and ROI frameworks
Communicate clearly across disciplines: Provide clear, consistent, and concise communication with varied stakeholders
Create decision-ready narratives that connect activity to Minecraft’s business outcomes
Automate uplift calculations from marketing A/B tests treatment and control groups and clearly highlight opportunities for future experiments
Collaborate with stakeholders to understand how to best measure success
Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
- Doctorate in Data Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Econometrics, Economics, Operations Research, Computer Science, or related field AND 1+ year(s) data-science experience (e.g., managing structured and unstructured data, applying statistical techniques and reporting results) OR Master's Degree in Data Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Econometrics, Economics, Operations Research, Computer Science, or related field AND 3+ years data-science experience (e.g., managing structured and unstructured data, applying statistical techniques and reporting results)
- OR Bachelor's Degree in Data Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Econometrics, Economics, Operations Research, Computer Science, or related field AND 5+ years data-science experience (e.g., managing structured and unstructured data, applying statistical techniques and reporting results)
- OR equivalent experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
- 5 years of experience with causal inference frameworks for marketing attribution analysis such as MMM, multi-touch attribution, A/B tests and regression analysis.

Data Science IC4 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $119,800 - $234,700 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $160,200 - $261,000 per year.
