Windows App is the unified client for Windows 365, Azure Virtual Desktop, Microsoft Dev Box, Remote Desktop Services, and remote PCs. Together with experiences such as Windows 365 Boot, Windows 365 Switch, and Windows 365 Link, it is opening an exciting new chapter for Windows in the cloud.

Responsibilities
Design and build high-quality client and platform software that powers Windows cloud experiences.
Develop experiences across Windows, cross-platform clients, cloud-connected services, and emerging AI-driven workflows.
Drive architecture and technical strategy for complex systems and customer-facing applications.
Partner with product, design, research, and platform teams to create intuitive, reliable, and delightful customer experiences.
Solve challenging problems in performance, scalability, reliability, security, accessibility, and user experience.
Influence engineering practices, technical direction, and product innovation across teams.
Mentor engineers and contribute to an inclusive, collaborative engineering culture.
At the Principal level, lead broad technical initiatives and shape the next generation of Windows cloud experiences.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 4+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, or C#
- OR equivalent experience.
Other Requirements: Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings:
Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.
Preferred Qualifications
Solid software engineering experience designing and building commercial-quality products.
Demonstrated technical experience developing in C, C++, or C#. Proficiency in at least one of these languages
Experience with software design, coding, debugging, testing, and problem-solving skills.
Experience developing complex desktop applications, systems software, platform technologies, cloud-connected applications, or large-scale services.
Understanding of software engineering fundamentals, including performance optimization, maintainability, reliability, and secure system design.
Passion for building high-quality products and customer experiences.
Experience with Windows platform development or cross-platform client applications.
Experience with cloud-connected applications and services, distributed systems, virtualization, remote desktop technologies, or cloud computing platforms.
Experience delivering consumer or enterprise applications at scale.
Experience applying AI technologies to customer experiences, productivity scenarios, or platform capabilities.
Technical leadership experience driving architecture, large projects, or cross-organization impact.

Software Engineering IC4 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $119,800 - $234,700 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $160,200 - $261,000 per year.

Software Engineering IC5 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $142,800 - $274,800 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $188,000 - $304,200 per year.
