Software Development Engineer, AWS Quick

Amazon Quick is building an AI-native work surface that understands what users want to accomplish and figures out how to get it done. We are looking for a Software Development Engineer III to design and deliver the third-party integrations that connect Quick to the business systems users rely on every day, enabling AI agents to take real action on their behalf. You will lead technical strategy for these connectors, working across teams to solve problems where requirements are clear but the right architecture is not. If you enjoy building systems that must work reliably at enterprise scale and want your code to directly drive product adoption, this is a role where your engineering decisions will have visible impact.


Key job responsibilities
Design and deliver third-party integrations and real-time connectors that enable AI agents within Quick to take action on behalf of users across the business systems they depend on.
Own the architectural direction for your team's integration platform, evaluating tradeoffs in scalability, performance, security, and maintainability while influencing technical decisions in systems you depend on but do not control.
Write high-quality code that sets the standard for your team in organization, clarity, error handling, and documentation, and drive adoption of consistent engineering practices.
Mentor and coach engineers on your team and across partner teams, contributing to hiring, career development, and a strong engineering culture.
Identify opportunities to simplify existing systems, reduce technical debt, and apply generative AI tools where they improve productivity and product quality.

A day in the life
You might start your morning reviewing a design for a new connector that links Quick to an external business application, offering feedback that strengthens the approach before implementation begins. Later, you pair with engineers on a partner team to align on an API contract and discuss how agents will authenticate and act within a third-party system. In the afternoon, you write code for a critical integration component, balancing near-term delivery with long-term extensibility. Between deep technical work, you check operational dashboards, refine runbooks, and spend time coaching a teammate through a tricky problem.

Basic Qualifications

- 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
- 2+ years of non-internship design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
- 1+ years of software development engineer or related occupational experience
- 1+ years of designing and developing large-scale, multi-tiered, multi-threaded, embedded or distributed software applications, tools, systems, and services using: C#, C++, Java, or Perl experience
- 1+ years of Object Oriented Design experience
- Bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field
- Experience programming with at least one software programming language

Preferred Qualifications

- 3+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience
- Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent

The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
