The opportunity

We are looking for an experienced Windows Subject Matter Expert to join our Infrastructure Managed Services team.

You will provide advanced technical support across Windows Server, Active Directory, SCCM, DNS and virtualisation technologies. As a trusted technical specialist, you will resolve complex Level 3 issues, contribute to infrastructure projects and support the wider operations team with technical guidance and best practices.

This role would suit someone who enjoys solving complex problems, improving infrastructure performance and sharing their expertise with others.

What you’ll do

• Administer and maintain Windows Server environments, including patching, configuration and performance monitoring.
• Manage and troubleshoot Active Directory, Group Policy, organisational units, DNS and DHCP.
• Administer Microsoft Endpoint Configuration Manager (SCCM/MECM) for software deployment, operating system deployment and compliance reporting.
• Provide Level 3 escalation support for complex Windows incidents and service requests.
• Support VMware vSphere administration, including virtual machine provisioning, patching and performance management.
• Contribute to server builds, migrations, upgrades and broader infrastructure projects.
• Develop and maintain PowerShell scripts to automate routine operational tasks.
• Produce technical documentation, support procedures and knowledge-base articles.
• Work closely with the Wintel Lead to establish and maintain technical standards and best practices.
• Participate in change advisory processes and an on-call rotation.
  

What you’ll bring

• Extensive experience in Windows Server administration, ideally within a complex enterprise environment.
• Strong knowledge of Windows Server 2012 R2 through to Windows Server 2022.
• Solid SCCM/MECM experience, including task sequences, software packages and compliance baselines.
• In-depth Active Directory administration experience covering schema, replication and Group Policy troubleshooting.
• Strong DNS administration and troubleshooting capability.
• Hands-on VMware vSphere experience, including vCenter management and the virtual machine lifecycle.
• Proficient PowerShell scripting and automation skills.
• Experience working within ITIL-based service management environments.
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
• Clear communication skills and the ability to collaborate with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Ability to work in a hybrid arrangement based in Ballarat.
  

Bonus points if you have

• Experience with Nutanix environments.
• Microsoft Azure, Entra ID or hybrid identity experience.
• Relevant certifications such as MCSA, MCSE or VCP.
