As Spring Co-op in our Biologics Drug Product Development Group, you’ll support the Chemistry team in advancing lipid-protein conjugation strategies for the development of targeted lipid nanoparticles (LNPs) for mRNA delivery. The student will work closely with scientists to design, synthesize, purify and characterize novel Lipid-Protein Conjugation for Targeted LNPs with surface-functionalized proteins to enable cell- and tissue-specific mRNA delivery.

Main Responsibilities

• Synthesize and purify the lipid-protein conjugates using bioconjugation chemistries (e.g., NHS ester, maleimide, click chemistry).
• Purify synthesized conjugates with dialysis or prep HPLC.
• Characterize the synthesized conjugates with HRMS, NMR, LCMS  
• Submit for in vitro/in vivo assays to assess targeting efficiency and mRNA expression.
• Maintain accurate lab notebooks and contribute to internal reports and team presentations.
• Collaborate with formulation, analytical, and discovery biology teams.
• Generate IP through novel protein conjugate designs.

About You

Basic Qualifications:

• Pursuing a bachelor’s master’s or PhD degree in chemistry, biochemistry, biomedical, chemical engineering, life sciences or related field with plans to graduate by Spring 2027 (or 2028, 2029)
• Must be permanently authorized to work in the U.S. and not require sponsorship of an employment visa (e.g., H-1B or green card) at the time of application or in the future. Students currently on CPT, OPT, or STEM OPT usually require future sponsorship for long term employment and do not meet the Internal requirements for this program unless eligible for an alternative long-term status that does not require company sponsorship.
• Must be enrolled in an accredited college or university throughout the duration of the co-op/internship. 
• Must be able to relocate

Preferred Qualifications:

• Hands-on experience in organic/bioconjugation chemistry or nanomedicine.
• Knowledge of mRNA biology or nucleic acid therapeutics.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.

Compensation

The salary range for this position is $27.00 - $60.00 hourly. All compensation will be determined commensurate with demonstrated experience.
