Regional Safety Manager, Data Center Health and Safety (DCHS)

Amazon Web Services (AWS) is looking for a Regional Safety Manager to build and own the safety risk program for Amazon Cloud Logistics (ACL) across a global region. This is a newly created role where you will define the safety strategy for data center logistics operations, drive risk reduction across ACL activities, and serve as the single point of coordination between ACL and AWS Data Center Health and Safety (DCHS). You will manage multiple concurrent risk programs spanning incident reporting, root cause investigations, risk assessments, contractor safety, and inspection coordination — all while partnering with operations leaders, regional DCHS teams, and vendor organizations. If you are an experienced safety professional who is energized by building programs from scratch and influencing stakeholders across a complex, global organization, this role gives you the autonomy to shape how safety scales with one of the fastest-growing functions in AWS infrastructure.

Key job responsibilities
- Own the end-to-end incident reporting lifecycle for ACL operations across DCHS regions, define safety KPIs such as injury rates and leading indicators, and build dashboards that drive data-informed decisions at regional and global levels.
- Manage the root cause and corrective action program for ACL incidents, identify patterns across investigations, and recommend corrective actions that address systemic causes rather than symptoms.
- Review and approve Risk Assessments and Method Statements for ACL logistics activities — including rack deployment, liquid cooling delivery, and heavy equipment operations — and develop standardized handling guidance that scales globally with regional customization.
- Coordinate safety inspections at ACL operational sites, align protocols with DCHS standards, and design training programs that build safety capability across DCHS managers, operations leaders, and the ACL vendor workforce.
- Serve as the primary DCHS liaison to ACL, coordinating with regional teams across the Americas, Europe, the Middle East, Africa, and Asia Pacific to ensure consistent safety standards while partnering with cross-functional stakeholders on resource priorities and continuous process improvement.

A day in the life
You start your morning reviewing safety dashboards and incident data to identify trends across your region. By mid-morning you are on a call with a DCHS regional team and an ACL operations leader, working through a corrective action plan for a recent finding. After lunch you review a set of Risk Assessments and Method Statements for an upcoming liquid cooling installation, then coach a vendor safety lead through an updated inspection protocol. Later, you draft a quarterly safety narrative for leadership, translating field observations into strategic recommendations that will shape the next round of program investments.

AWS Data Center Health and Safety (DCHS) is responsible for protecting everyone who works in and around Amazon's global data center fleet. We partner with Infrastructure Operations, construction teams, and specialized service organizations to maintain safety programs that cover tens of thousands of workers across dozens of countries. Amazon Cloud Logistics (ACL) is the internal organization that delivers IT infrastructure to AWS data centers worldwide. This role sits at the intersection of DCHS field safety expertise and ACL's rapidly growing logistics operation, giving you the opportunity to build a safety program from the ground up for one of the fastest-growing functions in AWS.

Basic Qualifications

- 7+ years of conducting workplace risk investigations experience
- Experience in conducting workplace risk investigations
- Experience leveraging technology to drive process improvements
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent

Preferred Qualifications

- 7+ years of customer-facing environment experience
- Lean Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt certification
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office including Outlook, Word, and Excel
- Experience with physical security control and surveillance systems
- Master's degree or equivalent

The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
