Corporate Counsel, Real Estate, NA Ops Real Estate

Amazon is seeking a strategic, business-minded real estate attorney to support the development, expansion, and management of our Operations logistics sites. You'll work at forefront of real estate development on high-value, complex projects while inventing new ways to work with AI.

Key job responsibilities
- Lead legal strategy on complex commercial real estate transactions — build-to-suit agreements, purchase and sale agreements, leases, and development contracts — for Amazon's logistics facilities
- Serve as strategic legal advisor to business partners across Operations on real estate matters impacting network growth, site launches, and facility operations
- Identify and proactively flag legal and business risks in real estate transactions, providing practical solutions that balance risk mitigation with speed to launch
- Manage and direct outside counsel on title review, environmental due diligence, and complex negotiations — owning legal strategy while maintaining quality and cost discipline
- Advise on land use, zoning, entitlements, and permitting strategies across diverse regulatory environments
- Collaborate cross-functionally with Real Estate, Operations, Finance, Tax, Construction, and Environmental teams to drive projects from site selection through launch
- Structure creative deal solutions for novel legal and business challenges, including first-impression issues in new asset types and emerging business lines
- Support post-acquisition and post-lease matters including construction contracts, property management agreements, landlord disputes, and ongoing operational real estate issues
- Drive process improvements and leverage AI and legal technology to increase efficiency and scalability across the operations real estate legal function

A day in the life
No two days are the same. Some days may be knee-deep in a lease or development agreement negotiation, while the next could be strategizing on the real estate implications of a new business line that Amazon is getting into. Other days will involve inventing ways to scale Legal's impact using AI or strategizing on the best land use approach in a new jurisdiction. Throughout, you'll be moving at a rapid pace and making hard judgement calls - not just drafting contracts.

Basic Qualifications

- 5+ years of post bar admission legal experience
- Juris Doctor and membership in one state bar or equivalent
- Experience in Real Estate Law
- Knowledge of the ethical considerations surrounding AI in the legal context, such as confidentiality, accuracy, and bias prevention

Preferred Qualifications

- Can distill complex legal issues into clear, concise business guidance
- Can use AI for legal research, contract analysis, or document review experience

The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
