Citi Global Wealth (CGW) brings together the full power of Citi to serve clients across the entire wealth spectrum. The London-based Capital Markets Advisory & Execution Desk is a high-performing front-office unit providing market intelligence, tactical trade ideas, and execution across global cash and synthetic markets.
The Advisory & Execution Specialist will manage and grow a dedicated book of 20–30 sophisticated UHNW, SFO, and MFO clients across EMEA. The candidate will drive commercial performance by delivering actionable, multi-asset advisory (Equities, Rates & Credit, FX, Listed Options, OTC, and Structured Notes) and executing high- and low-touch flows across European and US trading sessions, adhering to strict Best Execution and risk management principles.
Key Responsibilities
Trading, Execution & Liquidity Sourcing
- Multi-Asset Execution: Execute high-touch and low-touch client flows across Global Equities (Cash, ETFs, Listed Options) and Fixed Income (Rates, Investment Grade, High Yield, Emerging Markets Credit, OTC Derivatives, Structured Notes).
- Market Sourcing & Strategy: Determine optimal routing strategies and liquidity access points across electronic venues, systematic internalisers, and market makers, calibrated to trade complexity, liquidity profile, and market impact.
- Session Coverage: Provide continuous market and execution coverage across both European and US market operating hours for active advisory accounts.
Investment Advisory, Idea Generation & Strategy
- Actionable Alpha Ideas: Formulate and pitch thematic investment strategies, tactical trade recommendations, and relative value trade ideas tailored to sophisticated private client mandates.
- Research Synthesis: Integrate top-down macro insights and bottom-up analyses from Citi Research and Citi Private Bank (CPB) research to deliver differentiated, high-conviction trade rationale.
- Market Intelligence & Commentary: Author and distribute leading market commentary, technical/macro updates, and actionable flow summaries for clients and internal coverage teams.
Client Coverage & Commercial Growth
- Book Management & Revenue Targets: Manage a prime portfolio of 20–30 active UHNW and Family Office accounts, delivering against individual commercial objectives while driving the aggregate EMEA desk revenue budget.
- Relationship Deepening: Identify scalable revenue opportunities, improve execution turnaround times, and expand product wallet share across covered accounts.
"One Citi" Partnership & Internal Stakeholder Alignment
- Cross-Franchise Collaboration: Partner with the broader client coverage matrix—Relationship Managers (Private Bankers), Investment Counsellors (ICs), Investment Finance Specialists, and Product Teams.
- Cross-Divisional Connectivity: Bridge relationships with Banking, Corporate Finance, Markets, and Treasury to deliver the holistic "One Citi" value proposition to institutional-like private wealth clients.
Best Execution, TCA & Risk Governance
- Best Execution Mandate: Maintain strict adherence to CGW Best Execution policies, regulatory frameworks (e.g., FCA / MiFID II guidelines), and market conduct rules.
- Transaction Cost Analysis (TCA): Conduct rigorous pre- and post-trade analytics (TCA) and regular broker execution quality reviews to quantify execution performance and benchmark slippage.
- Risk Management & Control Partnership: Assess risks in all trade decisions; actively manage client exposures against limit profiles, suitability standards, and firm-wide guidelines in close partnership with Risk, Credit, and Compliance.
- Ethical Leadership: Apply sound ethical judgment, ensure compliance with relevant statutory laws, and transparently escalate control and operational issues.
Experience, Skills & Qualifications
Professional Experience
- Experience Level: Proven experience in trading, execution, sales trading, or investment advisory experience within Capital Markets, Investment Banking, or Tier-1 Wealth Management / Private Banking.
- Client Segment Expertise: Direct experience managing or executing for sophisticated UHNW individuals, Single Family Offices (SFOs), and Multi-Family Offices (MFOs).
- Product Fluency: In-depth working knowledge and track record of executing across:
- Equities: Cash Equities, Global ETFs, Equity Derivatives, Listed Options.
- Fixed Income: Sovereign Rates, Corporate Credit (IG / HY / EM), OTC Swaps.
- Derivatives & Structured Solutions: Structured Notes, Capital Protected Payoffs, FX/Rate-linked structures.
Systems & Technical Capabilities
- Trading & Execution Platforms: Proficiency in multi-asset EMS/OMS systems (e.g., Bloomberg EMSX, TSOX, ALLQ, Fidessa).
- Electronic Fixed Income Venues: Hands-on experience with electronic bond trading platforms (Tradeweb, MarketAxess).
- Analytics: Familiarity with TCA tools, pre-trade cost estimators, and market liquidity analytics.
Competencies & Interpersonal Skills
- Multi-Tasking & Market Reflexes: Ability to manage fast-moving order flow and risk pricing under high-pressure, volatile market conditions.
- Commercial Acumen: Strong sales and pitching capability, articulate verbal presentation skills, and clear, structured written delivery.
- Team-Oriented & Matrix Collaboration: Ability to operate seamlessly within a high-performing desk while coordinating with the broader coverage and control ecosystem.
- Market Hours Flexibility: Willingness and capability to cover extended trading windows spanning European and US market hours on occasion
