Lab Engineer, Mechanisms, Amazon Leo

Export Control Requirement:

This role is for a highly dynamic and motivated individual that will support the Mechanisms Assembly production and engineering team. We are looking for an individual who works well with engineering teams under minimal oversight to take ground support equipment from concept to production. This will be a production oriented position so expect the work to be fast paced and exciting.

Key job responsibilities
- Mechanical and electrical assembly of various spacecraft ground support equipment
- Build and execute various development tests
- Work closely with engineering teams to optimize manufacturability and to develop custom equipment
- Maintain, operate, and identify production equipment



A day in the life
Fixture Development and Maintenance
* Design, procure, and build fixtures
* Maintain existing test fixtures and ground support equipment
* Perform simple troubleshooting for test racks and environmental test equipment

Equipment and Calibration Management
* Own and execute tool calibration schedules for all equipment and tools
* Maintain equipment preventive maintenance (PM) plans
* Maintain calibration schedules and documentation
* Perform calibration confirmation and verification

Consumables and Inventory Management
* Implement and maintain Kanban system for consumables, using historical values for min max Kanbans
* Manage consumables inventory and procurement

Documentation
* Create and maintain Standard Operating Procedures for all test racks and other maintenance operations

About the team
This team is organized within the Mechanisms, Mixed Model Assembly, and Space Simulation Lab team to accelerate the design iteration process and ensure on-time delivery of the most stable and successful product possible. The tasks and daily focus change rapidly, and you will often take on new and exciting responsibilities as required to ensure project success. Expect to be deployed to complex problems that are driving the design and quickly drive success through build and test support.

Basic Qualifications

- Knowledge of tools and measurement devices (oscilloscope, frequency analyzer, or equivalent)
- BS degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent
- 1+ years of experience of equipment maintenance
- 1+ years of experience in CAD
- Basic wire harness fabrication and troubleshooting
- 1+ years of experience building ground support equipment
- Basic test troubleshooting experience

Preferred Qualifications

- Experience operating and maintaining thermal and TVAC chambers

The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
