Team:

This role is part of LinkedIn’s Enterprise Innovation (EI) organization, where we build the next generation of products and platforms that power employee productivity, collaboration, and data experiences. You will play a pivotal role in shaping the strategy, architecture, governance, and evolution of LinkedIn’s Atlassian ecosystem, including Jira, Confluence, Jira Service Management, and related capabilities. You will help establish a scalable platform vision, define standards and operating models, and ensure these products can reliably support teams and workflows across LinkedIn at enterprise scale.

Beyond traditional Atlassian administration, you will design and build solutions on top of the platform, including automations, integrations, APIs, workflows, and platform services that connect Atlassian products seamlessly with LinkedIn’s internal systems. You will apply strong engineering principles across reliability, security, performance, identity and access, observability, and platform governance while helping simplify fragmented processes and create scalable, self-service experiences. You will also help explore how Atlassian, Rovo, and LinkedIn’s internal AI platforms can enable intelligent agents and AI-first workflows that improve employee productivity and reduce manual work.

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Enterprise Engineer to help design the Future of Work at LinkedIn. You will bring deep experience with Jira, Confluence, and the broader Atlassian ecosystem, along with strong expertise in enterprise-scale platform engineering, automation, integrations, governance, and vendor partnership. You should be excited to operate at the intersection of enterprise platforms, software engineering, AI, automation, and employee productivity, and to build systems and capabilities that deliver measurable impact across LinkedIn.

The work location of this role is hybrid, meaning it will be performed both from home and from a LinkedIn office on select days, as determined by the business needs of the team.

Responsibilities 

• You will own and evolve LinkedIn’s Atlassian platform strategy, including Jira, Confluence, Jira Service Management, and related products, with a focus on scalability, reliability, governance, and employee experience.

• You will design, configure, and optimize enterprise-scale Atlassian environments, including projects, workflows, schemes, permissions, custom fields, automations, and platform standards.

• You will build and maintain integrations, APIs, automations, and custom capabilities that connect Atlassian products with LinkedIn’s internal systems, platforms, and engineering ecosystem.

• You will develop scalable self-service capabilities that reduce operational overhead, simplify complex workflows, and improve productivity across engineering and business teams.

• You will apply strong software and platform engineering practices across availability, performance, observability, resiliency, capacity planning, and operational readiness that operate 24x7. 

• You will drive the adoption of AI-first and agentic experiences, leveraging Atlassian capabilities, Rovo, APIs, and LinkedIn’s internal AI platforms to automate work and improve employee productivity.

• You will partner closely with Atlassian and other strategic vendors to influence roadmap, address product gaps, lead scrums, and ensure LinkedIn’s enterprise requirements are represented.

• You will define and track platform health, adoption, reliability, productivity, and operational metrics to measure the impact of platform investments.

• You will create reusable standards, patterns, documentation, and best practices that enable teams across LinkedIn to use Atlassian products effectively and consistently.

• You will work with product managers, program managers and dependent engineering teams to negotiate technical trade-offs, define service boundaries, and ensure on-time delivery. 

• You will be responsible for operational tasks and on-call support for the relevant applications and systems.

• You will learn to balance tactical day-to-day execution with long-term technical debt management and strategic component roadmapping. 

• You will provide technical leadership on complex platform decisions and help shape the long-term direction of employee productivity and collaboration systems across LinkedIn.

• You will participate in the on-call rotation for incident response and critical operational support that impacts service

Qualifications

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications 

• BS (or higher, e.g., MS, or PhD) in Computer Science or related technical field involving coding (e.g., physics or mathematics), or equivalent technical experience. 

• 5+ years of industry experience. 

Preferred Qualifications 

• Expertise with Jira, Confluence, and JSM, including workflows, schemes, permissions, custom fields, automation, governance, administration, and platform lifecycle management.

• Experience building integrations, automations, APIs, and custom applications using webhooks, REST, Forge, scripting, or general-purpose programming languages (eg. Python).

• Expert knowledge of computer science, with strong competencies in data structures, algorithms, and software design. 

• Experience with enterprise identity and access management, including SSO, SAML, SCIM, OAuth, service accounts, role-based access controls, and security governance.

• Experience evaluating and managing Atlassian Marketplace applications, third-party integrations, and build-versus-buy decisions across a complex application ecosystem.

• Experience with AI-enabled workflows, intelligent automation, Rovo, agentic systems, or enterprise AI platforms is highly desirable.

• Proven ability to partner across engineering, security, infrastructure, product, and business teams and influence technical decisions without direct authority.

• Skills with coding in Python, Java or Go, database design and SQL, and/or knowledge of standard libraries used for building enterprise applications is a plus.

• Strong communication and technical leadership skills, with the ability to translate complex platform challenges into clear technical strategies and scalable solutions.
