Who we are looking for

Develop, modernize, and support mission-critical Multi Asset class Trading applications supporting State Street Markets businesses. This role focuses on building scalable, secure, and resilient enterprise applications using modern Java technologies, cloud-native architectures, event-driven integration patterns, and modern web technologies. The role requires close collaboration with global teams to deliver high-quality solutions supporting trading and investment management workflows.


What you will be responsible for

  • Design, develop, and maintain enterprise applications using Java, Spring Boot, ReactJS, and related technologies.
  • Modernize legacy applications into scalable microservices-based architectures.
  • Design and implement REST APIs, messaging solutions, and enterprise integration patterns.
  • Develop and optimize data access layers using Hibernate, Oracle Exadata, and PostgreSQL.
  • Build event-driven solutions using Kafka and streaming platforms.
  • Design applications for security, availability, scalability, resiliency, and operational supportability.
  • Participate in architecture discussions, design reviews, and code reviews.
  • Collaborate with DevOps, QA teams to implement CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, and deployment automation.
  • Investigate and resolve complex production issues through root-cause analysis and remediation.
  • Partner with business, architecture, and global technology teams to deliver strategic initiatives.

What we value

  • Hands-on software development experience building enterprise applications.
  • Strong expertise in Java, J2EE technologies, Spring Framework, and Spring Boot.
  • Experience developing modern web applications using ReactJS.
  • Strong understanding of object-oriented design, design patterns, and functional programming concepts.
  • Hands-on experience designing and implementing microservices architectures.
  • Experience with enterprise application integration patterns, event-driven architectures, and distributed systems.
  • Strong experience with Kafka, messaging platforms, and asynchronous processing patterns.
  • Hands-on experience designing and developing cloud-native applications using AWS services.
  • Strong understanding of application security principles and secure software development practices.
  • Strong understanding of scalability, resiliency, performance optimization, and high-availability application design.
  • Experience leveraging AI-assisted development tools such as GitHub Copilot.
  • Experience with observability and production support best practices.
  • Excellent analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.

Education & Preferred Qualifications

  •  Exposure to AI Engineering, Data Engineering, and Python application development, including data pipelines, analytics platforms, AI/ML integration, and automation solutions.
  •  Experience working in Agile development environments.
  •  Experience working with globally distributed teams.

Additional requirements

  • Onsite in Boston 4 days a week
  • Familiarity with Capital Markets, Trading, and Investment Management systems.

Salary Range:

$90,000 - $157,500 Annual

The range quoted above applies to the role in the primary location specified. If the candidate would ultimately work outside of the primary location above, the applicable range could differ.
