Fauna Robotics is seeking a talented and motivated Systems Development Engineer to help build and operate the systems infrastructure behind reliable robotic system design, validation, and production test. This role will sit close to hardware test engineering, reliability, manufacturing, and product development, with a focus on designing, deploying, and operating the systems, environments, and automation infrastructure that automate test workflows, reduce test overhead, improve cycle time, and increase product quality.

You will build and operate systems along the critical path for robotics reliability and test infrastructure, including the compute, networking, cloud, data pipelines, and workcell integration that enable automated data collection, test execution, metrics, and alerting. You will help plan, design, review, and support new systems capabilities that make testing more scalable, repeatable, observable, and maintainable across engineering builds, reliability testing, and production validation.

The ideal candidate brings strong systems engineering and software development experience, sound operational judgment, and a bias toward building reliable, maintainable, and observable systems. This person should be comfortable working across hardware, software, test, manufacturing, and program teams; able to break ambiguous reliability and test problems into executable systems and automation work; and motivated by improving how complex robotic systems are deployed, validated, and scaled.

Key job responsibilities
- Work with stakeholders to define requirements, identify common use cases, and reduce test overhead across reliability, validation, and manufacturing test workflows.

- Design, deploy, and operate systems infrastructure and automation — compute, networking, cloud, storage, and data pipelines — that support reliability testing, hardware validation, production test, data capture, and failure analysis across robotic systems.

- Serve as a systems-focused member of the Reliability team, working cross-functionally to improve how robotic systems are integrated, instrumented, deployed, debugged, and validated.

- Develop organized, extensible, and maintainable infrastructure and code; break down development needs into achievable tasks; and provide technical support to junior developers or test engineers.

- Build and improve provisioning and automation strategies for new products, with a focus on reducing cycle time, improving repeatability, and increasing operational reliability and product quality.

- Refine best practices, documentation, metrics, monitoring, and alerting to support expanded automation, system uptime, and continuous improvement.

About the team
Fauna Robotics, an Amazon company, is building capable, safe, and genuinely delightful robots for everyday life. Our goal is simple: make robots people actually want to live and interact with in everyday human spaces.
We believe that future won’t arrive until building for robotics becomes far more accessible. Today, too much effort is spent reinventing the fundamentals. We’re changing that by developing tightly integrated hardware and software systems that make it faster, safer, and more intuitive to create real-world robotic products.
Our work spans the full stack: mechanical design, control systems, dynamic modeling, and intelligent software. The focus is not just functionality, but experience. We’re building robots that feel responsive, expressive, and genuinely useful.
At Fauna, you’ll work at the frontier of this space, helping define how robots move, manipulate, and interact with people in natural environments. It’s an opportunity to solve hard problems across hardware and software with a team focused on making robotics accessible and joyful to build.
If you care about making robotics real for everyone and building systems that are as delightful as they are capable, we’re interested in hearing from you.
