You’ll join a collaborative UI chapter working on a clean, well-maintained codebase, building the next generation of user experiences for dashboards, pipeline visualisations and configuration editors.

We value ownership, curiosity and continuous improvement, with AI-assisted development tools forming part of our engineering workflow.

The Role

We’re looking for a UI Developer to help build and evolve the user-facing experience of Lightspeed.

You’ll work across modern Angular and React applications, solving complex engineering challenges and delivering intuitive, reliable interfaces. This is an opportunity to work on a platform used by thousands of engineers, contribute to meaningful technical improvements and develop your expertise within a supportive engineering team.

You’ll work closely with developers, Product and Design in a hands-on environment where asking questions, sharing ideas and understanding the code you deliver are encouraged.

Key Responsibilities

  • Write clean, maintainable and well-tested code across complex frontend applications.
  • Work with users and engineering colleagues to diagnose issues and deliver effective solutions.
  • Contribute to technical improvements across performance, usability, architecture and code quality.
  • Use AI-assisted development tools responsibly, ensuring you understand, validate and test the code you deliver.
  • Stay curious about emerging technologies and contribute ideas that improve the platform and how the team works.
  • Collaborate with Product, Design and Engineering to deliver solutions that meet user and business needs.

Key Skills & Experience

  • Strong professional experience in frontend/UI development, with solid software engineering fundamentals and confidence working in complex codebases.
  • Strong hands-on Angular experience, including modern Angular (v18+). The Lightspeed application currently runs on Angular v21.
  • Good experience with React (v18+), including hooks, context and state management.
  • Strong TypeScript skills, including strict typing and modern development practices.
  • Proficiency in HTML5, CSS3 and responsive design, including Flexbox and Grid.
  • Experience with Git, including branching, pull requests, rebasing and code review workflows.
  • Practical experience writing and maintaining unit and integration tests, using tools such as Jest, Karma, Cypress or Playwright.
  • Experience integrating with REST APIs, with an understanding of GraphQL.
  • Practical experience using AI coding assistants such as GitHub Copilot or Cursor.
  • Understanding of clean code, SOLID principles and separation of concerns.
  • Comfortable working in a Kanban, continuous-delivery environment and collaborating across Product, Design and Engineering.
  • Strong communication skills and a willingness to ask questions, share ideas and continuously improve.
  • Good working English, both written and spoken.

Additional Experience (Valued, Not Essential)
