Fund Accounting Business Analyst

Position Summary

State Street is seeking an Assistant Vice President (AVP), Fund Accounting Business Analyst to support strategic initiatives, business process improvements, reporting enhancements, and technology delivery across the Fund Accounting organization.

The successful candidate will partner with business, product control, and technology teams to analyze requirements, document business processes, support project execution, perform data analysis, and contribute to the delivery of solutions that improve efficiency, scalability, client experience, and operational risk management.

This role is ideal for a candidate with Fund Accounting experience who enjoys problem solving, process improvement, data analysis, and working across multiple stakeholder groups. The position will provide opportunities to participate in business and technology initiatives while developing expertise in Fund Accounting products, processes, and operational workflows.

Key Responsibilities

Business Analysis

  • Gather, analyze, and document business requirements for Fund Accounting initiatives.
  • Work with stakeholders to understand business processes, pain points, and operational challenges.
  • Develop functional requirements, use cases, process flows, and data definitions.
  • Assist in translating business needs into requirements for technology and development teams.
  • Support review and validation of proposed business solutions.
  • Maintain documentation and ensure requirements remain aligned with business objectives.
  • Participate in stakeholder meetings, workshops, and working sessions.

Data Analysis & Reporting

  • Analyze operational, business, and client data to identify trends, issues, and improvement opportunities.
  • Support development of dashboards and reporting solutions using approved business intelligence tools.
  • Support data-quality reviews and reconciliation activities.
  • Present findings in a concise and actionable manner.

Project Support & Delivery

  • Support delivery of business initiatives across Fund Accounting and related operational teams.
  • Assist with project planning, status tracking, issue management, and stakeholder communications.
  • Monitor project deliverables and support implementation activities.
  • Help ensure solutions meet documented requirements and business expectations.

Process Improvement

  • Assist in documenting current-state and future-state workflows.
  • Support implementation of process improvements and operational controls.
  • Contribute ideas to improve reporting, automation, and data management practices.

Stakeholder Collaboration

  • Develop strong working relationships with Fund Accounting,  Product Control, and Project Management teams.
  • Coordinate with subject matter experts to gather information and validate requirements.
  • Communicate project updates, issues, and dependencies to stakeholders.
  • Support cross-functional teams in delivering business and technology solutions.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or Masters in Accounting, Finance, Business, Information Systems, Economics, or a related discipline.
  • Min. 10 years of experience in Fund Accounting, Fund Administration, Investment Operations, Business Analysis, or a related financial-services function.
  • Understanding of mutual funds, institutional funds, collective investment funds, or related investment products.
