Original job description
Content provided by the employer
We are looking for a Senior Product Manager, Technical to own content advertising products for Media & Entertainment (M&E) partners — the Prime Video Channels and Studio advertisers who promote the content they offer on Prime Video and beyond. These partners already reach Prime Video customers through our M&E ad products across the app and in playback. Your job is to grow that program: extend it with new ad products that drive engagement and subscriptions, and make the existing ones more effective, more relevant, and more appealing to both viewers and advertisers.
You must have strong business judgment, customer obsession, and be technical with a passion for streaming and digital advertising. You must be able to thrive and succeed in an entrepreneurial environment and not be hindered by ambiguity. This means you are not only able to develop and drive high-level strategic initiatives, but can also roll up your sleeves and get the job done. You leverage mental models and data-driven decision making, and can effectively communicate verbally, and in writing, with leaders of all levels.
This is a business with significant room ahead — new formats to introduce, relevance and efficiency to sharpen, and greenfield space to open, including conversational and search ads in the Prime Video app experience and in playback. You'll own this product line end-to-end, help define where it goes next.
Key job responsibilities
• Build and scale profitable programs for Prime Video Ads.
• Develop and execute product strategy for new ad formats and viewer experience innovations in Prime Video, driving the roadmap from concept through launch and iteration.
• Lead or critically influence planning and execution of all aspects of product implementation, including product definition, engineering delivery, and go-to-market.
• Work across Prime Video Ads, Prime Video, and Amazon Ads organizations to conceptualize, experiment, launch, and scale products that balance viewer experience quality with advertiser effectiveness.
• Build and drive partnerships with key stakeholders across multiple organizations to foster best-in-class product vision and achieve shared objectives.
• Partner with engineering, applied science, design, and business teams to translate customer insights and business strategy into clearly defined product requirements and user stories.
• Identify new ad format opportunities by analyzing viewer behavior, advertiser needs, competitive landscape, and emerging technologies.
• Make the ads better on both sides of the marketplace — more relevant and appealing to viewers, more effective and measurable for advertisers — creating exceptional viewer experiences while meeting business goals.
• Run experimentation and define the metrics to make data-driven trade-offs between advertiser outcomes, revenue, and customer engagement.
A day in the life
You review results from an experiment testing a new ad format and decide it's ready to expand. You spend an hour whiteboarding with engineering and science on how conversational ads could surface in the app without disrupting discovery. You work through how to make an advertiser's campaign more relevant and clearer to measure. You look at engagement and monetization guardrails and adjust a relevance threshold. You write the PRFAQ on the next set of M&E ad products and align partner teams on it. You operate with autonomy over your product line, with regular visibility to senior leadership.
