As a Customer Marketing Specialist, you will own the end-to-end lifecycle of customer storytelling — from discovering and vetting customer success stories against strategic criteria to amplifying them across marketing channels for maximum impact. You will work cross-functionally with product marketing, industry marketing, PR, content teams, campaigns, demand generation, and account teams to ensure strategic alignment and high-quality storytelling at scale.

The ideal candidate has a passion for customer-centric storytelling, the ability to transform complex technical concepts into compelling narratives, and experience building and improving scalable mechanisms to deliver results. A proven track record of managing cross-functional content programs and influencing without direct authority is essential.

Key job responsibilities
Own the end-to-end lifecycle of customer references from identifying and vetting customer stories against strategic criteria (industry relevance, quantifiable outcomes, AWS differentiation, narrative arc) to recommending top candidates for campaigns, keynotes, and media opportunities.

Curate and manage priority customer stories by product, industry, and strategic theme; enforce high-quality criteria promoting impact over volume; brief executives and enable stakeholder teams with ready-to-use reference materials.

Facilitate regular touchpoints with stakeholders, content strategists, campaign managers, PR, and account teams. Establish and lead working groups to surface stories, align on priorities, and coordinate storytelling efforts across the organization.

Draft and produce customer case studies, executive summaries, reference slide copy, headlines, and talking points according to AWS style guidelines and storytelling best practices. Write technical case studies and support video storytelling production.

Identify opportunities to leverage AI for operational excellence and content production at scale. Build, test, and iterate on AI-powered tools to accelerate content creation while maintaining quality standards.

Design and execute promotion plans for customer assets in partnership with video, social, web, and campaign teams. Coordinate customer story placement across channels to maximize reach and impact.

Champion internal platform adoption for customer reference management; define requirements for platform improvements; ensure customer stories are properly logged, searchable, and accessible to stakeholders.

A day in the life
This role is part storyteller, part program manager, part creative strategist — and it moves fast. If you love connecting people, finding the signal in the noise, and making customers the hero, you'll thrive here.
