About the role
Original posting provided by amazon
We are hiring a Senior Product Manager Technical to own a managed service within our product suite. This is a greenfield opportunity to set the product direction for how Amazon's operations infrastructure is managed for the next decade, at the intersection of software-defined services, physical operations, and emerging agentic AI systems.
Key job responsibilities
Own the end-to-end product vision and roadmap for a managed service within the OIS Product Suite, from initial PRFAQ through launch, defining which infrastructure capabilities the service should expose for self-service and which should remain manually operated in the near term.
Define the service's contract with the rest of the product suite, including the integration standards and data boundaries that determine where your service ends and the next managed service begins, so solution teams get a consistent experience across the portfolio.
Drive elimination of manual intervention in your service's provisioning and management flows, using escalation and rejection data to find where solution teams get stuck and prioritizing the fixes that convert the most manual work into self-service.
Partner with engineering to translate product direction into shippable design, reviewing technical tradeoffs, sequencing the roadmap against the team's capacity, and making build versus buy or build versus defer calls.
Set the policy for where agentic AI can act on your service's behalf, deciding which operations are safe to hand to an agent, which still require a human in the loop, and how that boundary shifts as the underlying physical operations and agentic systems mature.
A day in the life
You spend most of your time at the intersection of product strategy and hands-on technical work. A typical day might start by walking your own self-service flow the way a solution team would, then reading the escalation queue to see who gave up and asked a human instead. From there you might jump into a whiteboard session with engineers debating where your service's contract ends and the next managed service in the suite begins, or writing the PRFAQ that decides which capabilities belong in the product at all. And you will regularly find yourself deciding which of those capabilities should still require a human in the loop and which are ready to be handed to an agent, because that boundary is still yours to define.
