Telecom Core Security Engineer

Job Description:

We are seeking a Telecom Core Security Engineer to support cybersecurity and transformation initiatives for mobile network operators. The ideal candidate will bring strong expertise in telecom core network architectures, protocols, and operational environments from legacy mobile networks through to 5G Standalone deployments.

This role will support cybersecurity engagements focused on securing modern telecommunications infrastructures.

 

Key Responsibilities

• Provide technical expertise on mobile core network architectures.

• Support security assessments of telecom networks and services.

• Analyze network designs and identify security risks affecting telecom infrastructures.

• Support troubleshooting and technical investigations involving mobile network protocols.

• Participate in transformation and modernization initiatives involving 4G and 5G networks.

• Collaborate with security consultants, SOC teams, and client stakeholders.

• Contribute to telecom security architecture reviews and recommendations.

Job Qualifications:

• Minimum 3 years of experience in telecom core engineering.

• Understanding of telecom architecture on radio (2G, 3G, 4G and 5G) and core (voice, data, IMS, 5G SA). Experience in voice and/or data core networks and communication flows.

• Knowledge of telecom signaling and core protocols including: SS7, Diameter, GTP, SIP/IMS, 5G SBI

• Understanding of roaming and interconnect concepts.

• Understanding of telecommunications security principles and solutions applied to prevent and detect risks.

• Mobility and willingness to travel.

• Experience with mobile operators or telecom vendors.

• Exposure to telecom security technologies such as: Signalling Firewalls; SEPP; Fraud Management; Telecom Threat Detection & Lawful Interception

• Knowledge of GSMA security standards and security requirements applied to telcos (eg, NIS2, TSA)

• Experience supporting security audits or risk assessments.

• Fluent in Portuguese and English (written and spoken).
