Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced and hands-on Application Security professional to strengthen the enterprise Application Security programme. This role will focus primarily on Static Application Security Testing (SAST), security integration within CI/CD pipelines, AppSec automation, secure software development practices, cloud security governance, compliance and vulnerability management.

The successful candidate will work closely with application development, DevOps, platform engineering, security architecture and risk teams to embed scalable security controls throughout the software development lifecycle. The role requires strong technical depth in application security, practical experience integrating security tools into enterprise delivery platforms and the ability to build automation that improves coverage without creating unnecessary delivery friction.

The Impact

  • Expand and improve SAST coverage across enterprise applications and repositories.

  • Embed risk-based security controls into CI/CD pipelines and developer workflows.

  • Reduce manual effort through reliable AppSec automation and orchestration.

  • Improve the validation, prioritisation and remediation of application security findings.

  • Provide developers with practical, language-specific remediation guidance.

  • Produce dependable metrics and evidence for security governance, cloud compliance, risk and audit requirements.

  • Strengthen governance of application workloads deployed across public cloud environments.

What's in It for You

  • Work with enterprise-scale applications, development platforms and security technologies.

  • Influence the direction of a large-scale Application Security programme.

  • Develop reusable security automation adopted across engineering teams.

  • Collaborate with global product, engineering, cloud, DevOps and security stakeholders.

  • Contribute to security standards, developer enablement and Secure SDLC transformation.

Responsibilities

SAST Programme Engineering and Operations

  • Implement, configure, administer and optimise enterprise SAST capabilities.

  • Onboard applications and repositories using repeatable, documented patterns.

  • Configure scanning profiles, policies, presets, exclusions and application-specific settings.

  • Perform detailed analysis of findings across multiple languages and frameworks.

  • Validate false positives, duplicate findings and vulnerability classifications through secure code review.

  • Provide practical remediation guidance and secure coding examples where appropriate.

  • Investigate failed or incomplete scans, performance issues and integration problems.

  • Improve scan quality through query tuning, configuration optimisation and operational metrics.

  • Support tool migration, consolidation or rationalisation initiatives when required.

CI/CD Security Integration

  • Design and implement application security controls within CI/CD pipelines.

  • Integrate SAST with source-code repositories, pull requests, build pipelines and developer workflows.

  • Define proportional, risk-based security gates for builds, releases and production deployments.

  • Create and maintain reusable pipeline templates and security components.

  • Troubleshoot authentication, API, repository, build orchestration and scan execution issues.

  • Partner with DevOps and platform engineering teams to improve reliability, scale and maintainability.

  • Ensure secure handling of credentials, service accounts, tokens and secrets used by integrations.

Application Security Automation

  • Develop automation using Python, PowerShell, Bash or other suitable languages.

  • Build integrations using REST APIs, webhooks, command-line interfaces and supported SDKs.

  • Automate onboarding, scanning, result retrieval, triage, reporting and workflow updates.

  • Automate finding normalisation, deduplication, enrichment, prioritisation and assignment.

  • Integrate AppSec platforms with ticketing, reporting, source-control and collaboration systems.

  • Implement logging, error handling, retries, monitoring and auditable execution records.

  • Maintain automation code using version control, testing, documentation and peer review.

Vulnerability Triage and Remediation

  • Prioritise findings using exploitability, business context, data exposure and technical impact.

  • Validate vulnerabilities through code review and controlled technical analysis.

  • Help engineering teams identify root causes and effective remediation approaches.

  • Track findings through remediation, retesting, risk acceptance or formal closure.

  • Review evidence for false-positive requests, compensating controls and security exceptions.

  • Identify recurring vulnerability patterns and recommend systemic preventive controls.

Cloud Security Governance and Compliance

  • Apply cloud security governance principles to application workloads, services and delivery pipelines.

  • Partner with cloud security, architecture, engineering, risk and compliance teams to translate control requirements into practical technical guardrails.

  • Assess application and pipeline alignment with approved cloud security standards, secure configuration baselines and policy requirements.

  • Support governance for cloud identities, roles, service accounts, secrets, encryption, logging and workload access controls.

  • Understand shared-responsibility considerations across AWS, Microsoft Azure or Google Cloud environments.

  • Support cloud control assessments, evidence collection, exception management, remediation tracking and audit readiness.

  • Map AppSec and CI/CD controls to applicable enterprise policies, regulatory obligations and recognised security frameworks.

  • Identify cloud security control gaps and work with accountable teams to define proportionate remediation or compensating controls.

Secure SDLC, Governance and Developer Enablement

  • Embed application security requirements across design, development, testing and release processes.

  • Support threat modelling and security reviews for high-risk applications or significant changes.

  • Create standards, checklists, onboarding guides, runbooks and technical documentation.

  • Deliver technical enablement for developers, DevOps engineers and security champions.

  • Maintain programme records, coverage metrics, remediation data and audit evidence.

  • Support control assessments, risk reviews, exception governance and continuous improvement.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Security, Engineering or a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience.

  • Five or more years of relevant experience in Application Security, Product Security, DevSecOps or software security engineering.

  • Strong hands-on experience with enterprise SAST platforms, secure code analysis and vulnerability validation.

  • Practical experience integrating security scanning into CI/CD pipelines and source-control workflows.

  • Experience with platforms such as GitHub, GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps, Jenkins, GitLab CI or equivalent technologies.

  • Strong scripting or development skills using Python, PowerShell, Bash, Java, C#, JavaScript or similar languages.

  • Experience building integrations with REST APIs, webhooks, service accounts and modern authentication mechanisms.

  • Ability to review source code and validate findings in at least one major programming language.

  • Understanding of web applications, APIs, microservices, containers and cloud-native architectures.

  • Working knowledge of cloud security governance, security control implementation, compliance evidence and exception management.

  • Understanding of cloud identity and access management, encryption, secrets management, logging, monitoring and secure configuration principles.

  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, documentation and stakeholder communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications and Certifications
