Overview:
Mastercard's Network & Digital Payments group creates valued experiences for consumers and enables merchants and issuers to reach consumers in ways not possible in the pre-digital world.
The Global Product Engineering team is responsible for developing a suite of foundational payment solutions. This is an opportunity to be part of a highly motivated team focused on bringing security, convenience, and control to digital payments.

Role Overview:
As a Senior Software Engineer, you will:
Core Engineering Responsibilities
• Design, develop, and maintain robust and scalable backend services using Java, Spring Boot, and microservices architecture.
• Deploy and manage applications on PCF and/or Kubernetes.
• Develop engaging and responsive user interfaces using modern front-end frameworks such as Angular or React.
• Participate in Proof of Concepts (PoCs) and contribute to the evaluation and selection of technologies, vendor solutions, frameworks, and methodologies.
• Write clean, maintainable, well-documented, and testable code.
• Collaborate with product managers, designers, and engineers to deliver high-quality products.
• Participate in code reviews and continuously improve engineering practices.
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues.
• Ensure adequate test coverage across unit, integration, system, automation, and performance testing.
• Contribute to architecture and technical design decisions.
• Mentor junior engineers and share technical expertise.
• Work in an Agile environment, participating in sprint planning, daily stand-ups, reviews, and retrospectives.
Quality Engineering & Automation
• Develop robust automation solutions using Java, Spring, JUnit, Rest Assured, JBehave, Cucumber, or similar frameworks.
• Design and maintain automation frameworks, reusable utilities, harnesses, and engineering productivity tools.
• Create and maintain technical artifacts including:
o Design documents
o Test strategies
o Automation plans
o Integration specifications
o Operational readiness documentation
• Identify gaps across unit, functional, integration, regression, performance, and exploratory testing and partner with engineering teams to address them.
• Participate in defect triage, release readiness reviews, environment validation, and delivery risk assessments.
Security, Reliability & Operations
• Apply secure coding practices and support vulnerability identification using tools such as SonarQube, Checkmarx, Fortify, or equivalent platforms.
• Support production readiness through effective logging, monitoring, troubleshooting, incident analysis, root cause analysis (RCA), and issue resolution.
• Help improve application reliability, observability, and operational excellence.
All About You:
Required Qualifications
• 6 to 9 years of experience in Full Stack Software Development.
• Strong proficiency in Java and Spring Boot.
• Experience designing and developing microservices.
• Experience with PCF, Kubernetes (K8s), Docker, or cloud-native platforms.
• Strong understanding of front-end development principles with hands-on experience in Angular and/or React.
• Proficiency in HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and jQuery.
• Hands-on experience with Java, Spring, JUnit, Rest Assured, JBehave, Cucumber, or equivalent testing frameworks.
• Strong experience validating APIs, microservices, web services, web applications, databases, and integration workflows.
• Experience with relational databases such as Oracle and PostgreSQL, including writing optimized and efficient SQL queries.
• Experience designing and developing RESTful APIs.
• Understanding of information security concepts, including:
o X.509 certificates
o Public key cryptography
o JWT (JSON Web Tokens)
o Hashing algorithms
o Digital signatures
• Ability to troubleshoot complex issues across application, integration, data, and infrastructure layers.
• Strong passion for engineering excellence, continuous improvement, automation, and building reliable software at scale.
• Ability to work effectively both independently and within a collaborative team environment.
Good to Have:
• Experience with public cloud platforms such as Azure, AWS, or GCP.
• Experience with DevOps practices and tools including Jenkins, Docker, Kubernetes, CI/CD pipelines, and Infrastructure as Code.
• Contributions to open-source projects.
• Experience in payment technologies, digital identity, authentication, or security-focused solutions.
