A critical communications role responsible for defining and advancing Takeda Bengaluru's transformation communications strategy, employee engagement, leadership communications and external reputation, brand and stakeholder engagement. This communicator serves as the architect of the Bengaluru site communications approach, ensuring employees are informed, inspired and connected to Takeda's purpose, values, culture ambition, strategic priorities and evolving ways of working.

In partnership with site leadership, business leaders, human resources and communicators around the world, this role is responsible for supporting the continued growth and success of one of Takeda's most important strategic locations and a growing global capability center. By strengthening employee engagement, serving as a trusted advisor to leaders during a period of critical growth and transformation, advancing Takeda brand leadership in India, building relationships with local stakeholders and ecosystem partners and creating alignment between enterprise priorities and local execution, this leader will strengthen Takeda's reputation as a leading biopharmaceutical company and employer of choice in India.

Reporting to the Senior Director, Head of Site Communications and Global Employee Engagement, the Takeda Bengaluru Site Communications Lead serves as the strategic communications partner to the Bengaluru leadership team and is a member of Takeda's global site communications network.
 

Key Responsibilities

Site Communications Strategy and Planning

  • Define and lead Takeda integrated communications strategy for the Bengaluru site, establishing a coordinated approach to employee engagement, transformation communications, leadership communications and external stakeholder engagement.
  • Develop and execute annual and multi-year communications plans that support site growth, business objectives, transformation priorities and Takeda's priorities.
  • Serve as the primary communications advisor to Bengaluru site leadership, providing strategic counsel on employee engagement, organizational alignment, stakeholder communications, reputation management and Takeda brand leadership in India.
  • Adapt enterprise communications strategies and campaigns to meet local employee and stakeholder needs while maintaining alignment with Takeda's global communications priorities, standards, culture and transformation goals.

Employee Engagement and Leadership Communications

  • Lead communications for the Bengaluru employee population, ensuring a consistent and engaging employee experience regardless of business unit, function or reporting structure.
  • Drive employee engagement strategies that strengthen connection to Takeda's purpose, values, culture ambition, business priorities, growth ambitions and transformation journey.
  • Advise site and functional leaders on employee engagement strategies during periods of organizational growth, transformation, and change, helping leaders communicate with clarity, build trust, maintain engagement and accelerate adoption of new ways of working.
  • Lead communications planning and execution for town halls, employee campaigns, organizational announcements, site milestones and engagement initiatives.
  • Develop executive messaging and communications materials, including presentations, speeches, talking points, articles, videos, SharePoint content, Viva Engage content, FAQs and leadership communications.
  • Support employee listening and engagement measurement through surveys, feedback mechanisms, analytics and ongoing dialogue with employees and leaders.
  • Provide communications support to different Takeda business units and functions as needed, including the Data, Digital & Technology organization and the Innovation Capability Center colleagues based in Bengaluru. This could include employee engagement activities, leadership visits and local activation of different organization’s initiatives and priorities.

Transformation and Change Communications

  • Serve as the Bengaluru communications lead for enterprise transformation initiatives, ensuring local employees understand, engage with, and successfully adopt strategic changes impacting culture, ways of working and overall employee experience.
  • Partner closely with the global transformation office, change communications teams and local leaders to support enterprise transformation, operating model evolution, technology adoption, organizational change and growth initiatives.
  • Provide strategic counsel to leaders on change communications, employee sentiment and leader communications during periods of significant transformation.

External Reputation and Brand

  • Lead Bengaluru's external and stakeholder engagement strategy, advancing Takeda corporate identity, brand leadership in India and strengthening awareness among talent communities, universities, industry organizations, technology ecosystems, business partners and local stakeholders.
  • In partnership with Takeda’s recruiting team and other business leaders, maintain relationships with media, academic institutions, industry associations, technology communities, recruitment partners and other external stakeholders to strengthen Takeda's credibility, visibility and brand presence in India.
  • Lead communications planning and execution for external events, conferences, partnerships, awards, industry engagements and ecosystem-building initiatives.
  • Proactively identify external opportunities that strengthen Takeda's reputation and visibility in India, including speaking opportunities, thought leadership, partnerships, awards and industry engagement. 
  • Ensure all communications activities align with Takeda's brand standards, legal and compliance expectations and global communications approaches.
  • Ensure a one Takeda branding approach across teams and functions in India.

Enterprise Leadership

  • Serve as a key member of Takeda's global site communications network, contributing to enterprise communications initiatives, employee engagement programs, transformation efforts and shared communications priorities.
  • Partner closely with other site communicators and communications leaders globally to drive consistency, share best practices, build capabilities and create a connected employee experience across Takeda's global footprint.
  • Promote modern communication approaches that encourage collaboration, dialogue, transparency and community-building while reducing fragmentation and duplication.
  • Serve as a champion for Takeda brand standards and activation in India.
  • Champion Takeda's values, culture ambition, enterprise transformation priorities and new ways of working through communications strategies, employee engagement initiatives and role modeling.

Required Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in communications, journalism, marketing, public relations or a related field.
  • 12-15 years of communications experience, including significant experience in employee communications, leadership communications and external communications within a large, global organization.
  • Creative communications experience, including experience within or working closely with a creative, brand or communications agency, would be a strong advantage. Able to translate strategy into engaging campaigns, storytelling, content and employee experiences. 
  • Experience building and evolving communications for a global capability center, shared services organization, technology hub or similar enterprise environment. Biopharmaceutical industry experience is preferred
  • Deep expertise in change communications, including advising leaders during periods of business growth, organizational transformation, restructuring or technology adoption.
  • Demonstrated success operating within global communications organizations and collaborating effectively across functions, geographies and stakeholder groups.
  • Strong executive presence and proven ability to advise and influence senior leaders on employee engagement, communications strategy, transformation and reputation.
  • Experience working in highly matrixed environments while balancing enterprise priorities with local site needs.
  • Strong understanding of employer branding and talent attraction.
  • Exceptional written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills, with the ability to translate complex business strategies, organizational changes and transformation initiatives into clear, compelling and actionable communications.
  • Proficiency with digital communications platforms and tools, including SharePoint, Viva Engage, Microsoft 365, alongside an understanding of how AI, analytics and emerging technologies can be used to improve communications, analytics platforms, and content production technologies and employee engagement. 
  • Exceptionally high degree of integrity, professionalism, judgment, and discretion, with experience managing sensitive employee, business and organizational matters.
