OBJECTIVES / PURPOSE

Takeda Business Solutions (TBS) partners with the business to standardize and optimize global Finance operations through data, digital capabilities, and scalable processes. As Head of TBS Finance Solutions Delivery Japan, you will be the most senior TBS Finance leader in Japan, leading a team of approximately 50 employees and overseeing end-to-end Finance operations in one of Takeda’s most strategic markets. Reporting to the Head of TBS Finance Solutions, you will drive operational excellence, transformation, and business partnership while building a high-performing, future-ready organization. This highly visible leadership role offers significant opportunities for growth across Finance, TBS, and Takeda.

ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Lead the TBS Japan Finance Solutions organization, overseeing Record-to-Report, Invoice-to-Cash, Acquire-to-Retire, Treasury, and future Tax activities, while building a high-performing team delivering efficient, compliant, and customer-focused finance operations

  • Drive finance transformation, process standardization, and adoption of global TBS best practices across Japan Finance operations

  • Partner with the Global Hub in Poland and global stakeholders to optimize the delivery model, improve efficiency, and enable greater focus on value-added business partnering

  • Serve as the primary TBS Finance leader in Japan, partnering with local and global Finance, Tax, Treasury, DD&T, and business leaders

  • Drive continuous improvement, automation, and innovation to enhance service quality, user experience, and operational effectiveness

  • Ensure strong governance, compliance, risk management, and adherence to Takeda policies, IFRS, J-GAAP, and SOX requirements

  • Champion change, capability building, and a culture of continuous learning aligned with Takeda’s future operating model

  • Lead key digital initiatives, including SAP S/4HANA implementation, ensuring successful deployment, stakeholder engagement, and sustainable adoption

CORE ELEMENTS RELATED TO THIS ROLE

  • Proven leadership of large finance, accounting, controlling, or shared services organizations, ideally within a multinational and Japanese business environment

  • Strong experience in finance transformation, process centralization, operating model design, and ERP implementations, preferably SAP S/4HANA

  • Demonstrated success leading large teams, driving performance, and developing talent

  • Deep expertise in finance operations, accounting, reporting, controlling, and business partnering

  • Strong stakeholder management, change leadership, and continuous improvement mindset

DIMENSIONS AND ASPECTS

Technical/Functional (Line) Expertise

  • Senior finance leadership experience with responsibility for operations, transformation, and service delivery

  • Strong understanding of end-to-end finance processes and shared services

  • Experience with SAP ERP systems; SAP S/4HANA experience preferred

  • Understanding of Japanese regulatory, tax, and statutory reporting requirements

  • Partners with the Finance Solutions Team and the Global Hub in Poland to promote harmonization, simplification and transformation programs

EDUCATION, BEHAVIOURAL COMPETENCIES AND SKILLS

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field; MBA preferred

  • 10+ years of progressive finance leadership experience within a multinational organization

  • Professional qualification such as CPA, ACCA, ACA, or equivalent preferred

  • Business-fluent Japanese and English

  • Experience with SAP S/4HANA implementation or transformation programs is highly desirable

  • Strong leadership, stakeholder management, communication, and influencing skills

  • High integrity, customer focus, cultural awareness, and change leadership capability

  • Strong knowledge of finance processes, controls, governance, and enabling technologies

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Flexibility in working hours due to global nature (different time zones, including regular collaboration with European and Polish teams) and demands of the role and the organization

Flexibility to travel domestically and internationally

  • Working Hours: Headquarters (Osaka/ Tokyo) 9:00-17:30, Production Sites (Osaka/ Yamaguchi) 8:00-16:45, (Narita) 8:30-17:15, Research Site (Kanagawa) 9:00-17:45

  • Holidays: Saturdays, Sundays, National Holidays, May Day, Year-End Holidays etc. (approx. 123 days in a year)
