Job Description

The Medical Lead Netherlands is part of the Netherlands Management Team within the Central European Cluster and acts as the medical representation of Takeda Netherlands. He/she is responsible for leading and executing the local medical strategy in alignment with global and regional plans and in close collaboration with the cluster medical team. The role contributes as the medical strategic lead within cross-functional teams (Medical, Marketing, Access, Digital, Evidence). He/she is leading, coaching and performance-managing the local NL MSL team, ensuring clear objectives, prioritisation and development. This role provides medical leadership for launch readiness and lifecycle management, acting as a medical role model. 

How you will contribute:

  • Define MSL engagement focus, deployment and scientific narratives in line with medical priorities. 
  • Ensure high-quality, compliant scientific exchange and external engagement by the MSL team. 
  • Synthesize medical and field insights from MSLs and translate them into actionable strategic input. 
  • Provide medical leadership for launch readiness and lifecycle management, including indication expansions. 
  • Build and maintain strong external scientific partnerships with KOLs, HCPs and scientific societies. 
  • Represent Medical in advisory boards, congresses and key scientific forums as appropriate. 
  • Support and guide evidence generation activities (e.g. Phase IV, RWE, registries). 
  • Oversee development and delivery of medical education, training and scientific materials. 
  • Ensure all activities comply with regulatory, ethical and company standards, acting as a medical role model. 

Skills and qualifications:

  • Advanced scientific degree (PhD, PharmD or equivalent; MD an asset). 
  • Extensive Medical Affairs experience, including medical strategy and field medical (MSL) leadership. 
  • Demonstrated people-leadership experience, including coaching and developing teams. 
  • Strong scientific communication, stakeholder engagement and insight-generation skills. 
  • Thorough knowledge of the regulatory, legal and ethical framework for medical activities. 
  • Fluency in the local language and good command of English.

As a leader of a department, you oversee a medium-sized team of professionals working on diverse topics. While actively involved in daily operations when necessary, you will also provide strategic guidance, act as an advisor and trainer to your team, and make decisions guided by the sub-function business plans. Your responsibilities include managing projects, budgets, schedules, and performance standards, as well as engaging with internal and external stakeholders at various management levels and presenting findings at meetings.

Base Salary Range:

€93,200.00 - €128,150.00
